After each conference, a very limited number of carefully selected graduates are invited to return to future conference as staff members (affectionately known as “Redshirts”). There selections are made by the Conference Director of each Youth Leadership Conference. Students are informed at the the beginning and at the end of each conference that, if they want to become a Redshirt, they must fill out the form on this page. Competition is keen. Normally 20 to 30 letters are on file requesting consideration for the small number of available openings. The selection process usually takes place in the January-February time period and is completed in time for the students to have adequate time to arrange their spring schedule to accommodate the dates of the conference. Notification of selection to a staff position is made by a letter from the Conference Director.
